1) Choosing a motherboard based on the following criteria
- Figure out whether you need an Intel or AMD based motherboard
- Figure out what form factor you need for the motherboard. The form factor for the motherboard and case must match each other
- Fine tune your choices by figuring out what special features/hardware you would like the motherboard to support
