How to Setup Google Hosted Email in Apple Mail 3.0 using POP

This tutorial explains how to setup Google Hosted Email in Apple Mail 3.0 using POP email settings and your own domain name.

1) Open Apple Mail
2) Click "Mail", and select "Preferences"
3) Open the "Accounts" tab, and click the plus sign (+) along the bottom to add a new account.


4) Enter your name in the "Full Name:" field.
5) Enter your email address in the "Email Address:" field.
6) Enter your email password in the "Password:" filed.
7) Check the box next to "Automatically set up your account".
8) Click on "Create".
9) Now you're done!  Your settings should now look like this:





If POP isn't working properly make sure your settings are identical to those listed below.  From the "Mail" menu, click "Preferences".  Select your Google Hosted Email POP account in the "Accounts" tab:

"Servers" Tab Settings
My incoming mail server is a: POP3 server
Incoming mail (POP3): pop.gmail.com
User Name: (your email address including the @domain.com)
Password: (your password for your Google Hosted Email account)

Outgoing Mail Server Settings
Server Name: smtp.gmail.com
Server port: 25 or 587
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Checked
Authentication: Password

Advanced Tab
Enable this account: Checked
Include when automatically checking for new mail: Checked
(Incoming) Port: 995
Authentication: Password
